1. Starnberg Lake – boat ride
One of the 7 must-see spots around Lake Starnberg is the lake itself. And what better way to admire its beauty than a boat ride. If you’re taking the train ( S-Bahn) to the lake, you’re in luck as the start of the boat tour is right next to the station. Admission tickets and schedule can be found here. Admire the wonderful sights while cruising on the blue lake.
2. Bathing area Percha (Badegelände Percha)
It’s one of the smallest bathing areas on the shores of Starnberg lake. It offers a great view of the lake and the Alps in the distance. Furthermore, it’s one of the closest bathing areas to Munich, and it can be easily reached by car or via the public transport system. Park here for free almost all year round. In high season you will be charged 4 EUR for daily parking until 17:00 o’clock.
3. The Kiosk on the shore (Kiosk am See)
A walk away from the same parking place lies a little welcoming cottage. The Kiosk on the shores of the lake welcomes you with delicious food and cold drinks all throughout the hot summer days. It’s a great place to stop in your bike tour and grab a bite.
4. Ambacher recreation area (Ambacher Erholungsgebiet)
The Ambacher recreation area is the largest bathing area on the shores of Starnberg lake. It is a pebble beach, easily accessible from the A95 motorway. It’s a very nice place where you can relax and spend a wonderful day in nature. While being children friendly, the wide meadow offer enough place both on shade and sun even on a crowdy day (weekends, bank holidays or officially announced heat days).
5. Pier 1 (Steg 1) Possenhofen
It’s summer and the scorching heat left you aching for a cold drink?! Say no more, Pier 1 Possenhofen is a great place to grab a drink, sit back and relax on the shores of the Starnberg lake. If you’re a paddleboard fan, here is the perfect place to try paddleboarding on the lake.
6. BeachBar Kleines Seehaus
The BeachBar Kleines Seehaus is another idyllic location to enjoy the beauty of the lake, while sipping your favourite drink. It’s your choice if it’s just a stop in your journey, but I would definitely take a few moments, if not an entire afternoon, sunbathing and enjoying the delicious food and drinks this place has to offer.
7. Buchheim Museum of Imagination
There is also a place for art lovers. This is the Buchheim Museum of Imagination in Bernried. It was opened in 2001, and it hosts the expressionist works of Lothar-Günther Buchheim and other artists. It is a great place to let your imagination run free.
