The weekend is coming, and you have no idea what to do? You want to get away from the city, but where to go?! Remember, Bavaria has a lot of places worth visiting. Near Munich there are a great number of lakes, and just an hour away of the city is the beautiful lake Schliersee in the Miesbach district.
Less known as other Bavarian lakes like Eibsee or Tegernsee, Schliersee is the perfect weekend get-away as it is surrounded by hills that make for a wonderful hike. If you don’t enjoy hiking to the top, doesn’t mean you have to miss on the views! You can just take the cable car to the top of Alm mountain.
But before going on with a hike or a swim in the lake, what a better way to start the day than with a Bavarian bretzel.
All along the lake, there are a lot of places to swim or to sunbathe. In the middle of the lake there’s the Wörth island that can be easily reached by boat. The whole boat ride lasts about one hour, but it’s worth it. You get to see the whole lake and the surrounding mountains.
If you get the boat ride or if you prefer a quiet stroll along the lake shore, you will get to meet the local fauna. The ducks gather pretty fast, especially if they think you’ve got food 😀
All in all, it’s a perfect way to get out of the city and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature!
